Y'know, they really didn't have a REAL American holiday in March. So Greyhound bus "service" decided to make one hell of a deal about it, and I had the privalige of experiencing this historic moment first-hand. Here's the breakdown behind.......March 16th Greyhound Massacre.

5:35 p.m.: Bus scheduled to arrive at the Salem Greyhound Station

6:07 p.m.: Bus arrives at the Salem Greyhound Station

6:14 p.m.: Bus leaves the Salem Greyhound Station (with me aboard)

6:18 p.m.: Bus driver calls the Portland Greyhound Station to ask the 7:00 p.m. bus driver to wait for our bus so the people transfering can catch the 7:00 p.m. bus. The bus driver informs us that the 7:00 p.m. transfer bus will wait for our bus

7:28 p.m.: Salem bus arrives at Portland Greyhound Station. We're told the 7:00 p.m. bus left

7:29 p.m.: Receptionist announces the next bus to Seattle is scheduled for 9:20 p.m. I pull out my PSP and play WipEout for 1.5 hours

9:12 p.m.: Receptionist announces the Seattle bus is late and will arrive at 10:45 p.m. I play my PSP for 1.25 hours

11:14 p.m.: The 10:45 p.m. bus arrives at Portland Greyhound Station

11:32 p.m.: The 10:45 p.m. bus leaves the Portland Greyhound Station. I try to get 3+ hours of sleep, but this is a holiday massacre so no sleep

2:20 a.m.: I watch as I pass by my apartment

2:43 a.m.: Bus arrives at Seattle Greyhound Station. I go out to find a taxi because I was supposed to be back in time to catch the 174 back home, but it doesn't run at that time of day

3:21 a.m.: I arrive at my apartment and pay $50 to the taxi driver

So that's almost 10 hours to get home, instead of a 3.5 hour drive by car. Would I take the bus to Salem again? Definitely! I met some of the most awesome otaku and cosplayers down there. As awesome as otaku and cosplayers get, of course >.>;;;
There were pros and cons. The bad experiences of this holiday far outweigh the July 19th Baked Potato Incident at my job in Coos Bay, but the pros of the Greyhound Massacre made up for the insanely long day. I had about 30 minutes of not being a social outcast! ^^
